Job Description
Weld parts according to special instructions, blueprints and/or travelers. Perform functions of fusion also known as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding techniques, Repair improperly welded pieces and any nonconforming products, Assist other welding personnel when necessary, Operate machinery and equipment, Perform equipment checks and change-overs, Measure parts to specified tolerances, Use chemicals, solvents, as required, Complete all paperwork of maintenance on machinery.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry and handle objects weighing 25-30 pounds.
Lifting, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, grasping, holding, reaching, pushing and pulling are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
Required Qualifications:
Level I – 1NET
· Weld, assemble, and fabricate various formed metal structures and sub-assembly components
according to special instructions, blueprints and/or travelers
· Perform work Read and interpret technical drawings, and follow detailed work instructions
· Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
· Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to
match measurements)
· Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
· Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
· Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical,
horizontal or overhead)
· Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
· Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
· Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Additional/Specific Requirements:
Four (4) years of high school or equivalent vocational or similar training, including shop math to interpret and work from
blueprints, specifications, manuals, and operation and work sheet instructions.
Maintain any/all required certifications.
Designated employees in this job classification may be required to handle, transport, and/or participate in clean up of minor
hazardous waste spills. Prior to performing any of the above activities, designated employees will have satisfactorily
completed training in Hazardous Waste Handling.
Education/Experience: · 0-2 years’ experience and High School diploma or equivalent. · Knowledge of a wide variety of sheet metal repair techniques, fasteners, and rivets.
Level II – 2NET
