Job Description

  • Experienced in engineering analyses of high- reliability electronic equipment for Aerospace applications
  • Must have a good understanding of electronics packaging
  • Tasks include performing detailed thermal and structural analyses
  • Must be able to develop thermal models of electronic equipment and determine equipment operating temperatures to the piece- part level using thermal analysis software
  • Must have superior writing, documentation, and analytical skills, and be proficient in the use of computer tools to independently produce written reports using MS Word, Excel, thermal and structural analysis software
  • Candidate will have to work both independently and on interdisciplinary teams to solve design and manufacturing issues for satellite sub- systems (box and board level) and microelectronics assemblies subjected to a diverse range of thermal, structural, and radiation environments
  • Perform thermal (conduction and radiation heat transfer), mechanical (static loads, vibration, shock), and combined thermal- mechanical analyses using finite element software and hand calculations
  • Perform fatigue analysis of solder and structural members subjected to cyclic loading
  • Root cause analysis of failures under environmental testing and/ or manufacturing
  • Prepare and present analysis summary presentations for customers
  • Create engineering drawings using current drawing standards
  • Perform dimensional stack-up and tolerate analysis of electronics assembly designs
  • Oversee and review shock testing at offsite testing facilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Graduate degree desirable
  • 5 or more years related engineering experience preferred
  • Experience with finite element software and computer aided drafting packages
  • ANSYS V11 and Inventor Autodesk 2010 preferred
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of shock and vibration testing
  • Experience with military specifications (MIL- STD- 810) as they apply to board and box- level products is a plus
  • Experience with MIL- STD 880 is a plus
