Job Description

This individual resides in test engineering and has oversight responsibility for the integrity and execution of product test and troubleshooting.  This job requires hands-on involvement with all aspects of the production testing process.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot down the component level, sub-assemblies or final products that fail test, seeking the most efficient and cost-effective means to identify and repair faults, provide root cause analysis. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
  • Interface with Engineering to develop and/or improve test philosophies, ATP’s, fixtures and procedures and train test personnel on new procedures.
  • Perform product testing when appropriate.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of processes and method changes that improve productivity and product quality.
  • Collect and record all data from tests. Creates reports that summarize data and analyzes for exceptions.
  • Practices proper safety procedures and reports unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Performs basic maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and equipment. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
  • Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment.
  • Maintain test equipment related documentations.
  • Meet both quality and production requirements in fast paced environment.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Efficiently set-up, monitor and break down tests per engineering instruction.
  • Maintain existing test infrastructures for burn-in systems, wafer testers.
  • Execute existing burn-in, reliability and test procedures and implement new improvements.
  • Design and build electronics breadboards / circuits from schematics.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, professionally confident and self-motivated.
  • Computer literate (MSWord, Excel, Outlook).
  • Work weekends and nights, as needed.
  • Understands underlying technical principles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing organization as Production Test Technician. Experience as an Engineering Technician a plus.
  • Strong Attention to detail.
  • Will generally have a minimum of two years of demonstrated related experience in a technical laboratory, industrial manufacturing, or similar environment.
  • Interfaces with supervisor for direction and guidance.
  • Experience using manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.
  • Additionally, test technicians must be analytical, observant, patient and communicative.
  • B.S. degree in a scientific discipline, electrical/electronic engineering a plus or relevant military training and experience.
  • Minimum of Associates degree in a scientific discipline, electrical/electronic engineering, or relevant, equivalent experience.
