Job Description

The Quality Engineer directs product quality through inspections and root cause analysis. Implements improvements while collaborating with Operations management and Manufacturing Engineering. Audits systems, determines quality metrics, monitors production, and reports on malfunctions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Sets detailed guidelines and communicates expectations for quality standards to site manufacturing and quality team.

·       Acts as site quality subject matter expert; is the site’s quality point person.

·       Provides support and guidance to a team of inspectors.

·       Monitors and tests product quality, ensures compliance with standards, identifies issues, and recommends solutions.

·       Updates our Quality Management System (QMS) with incidents, fixes, and improvements.

·       Audits our systems based on ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

·       Determines quality metrics for all manufacturing procedures.

·       Monitors the entire production cycle and performs regular tests to identify and report on potential malfunctions.

·       Proactively recommends solutions to improve product durability and overall performance.

·       Ensures the safety and quality of products and procedures through rigorous inspections, implementation of quality control measures, and identification of areas for improvement.

·       Maintains KPI (Key Performance Indicators) for all products to determine areas for improvement.

·       Report relevant KPIs to corporate on a weekly basis.

·       Ensures products manufactured are meeting or exceeding quality specifications.

·       Determines quality metrics for manufacturing lines and conveys to Production Supervisor, Operations Management, and Engineering. Tracks quality metrics and goals.

·       Identifies training needs for manufacturing and quality staff and implements.

·       Inspects product materials and electrical systems for defects and durability.

·       Identifies and analyzes the root cause of technical issues and recommends fixes to drive continuous improvement.

·       Prepares reports on malfunctions and corrective actions.

·       Reviews, maintains, and updates current blueprints and quality documentation.

·       Coordinates with external quality assurance auditors and technicians to ensure legal compliance.

·       Works with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products.

·       Support the Customer Quality team in the resolution of customer issues.

·       Drive actions to reduce RMAs in line with company goals.

·       All other duties as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

·       Works in a manufacturing environment which may be noisy and fast-paced.

·       Location: Ronkonkoma, NY – on site

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross functional teams.

·       Ability to perform risk assessment and make decisions regarding quality.

·       In-depth understanding of technical documentation.

·       Familiarity with statistical analysis.

·       Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

·       Excellent analytical skills.

·       Quality certification is a plus.

 

EXPERIENCE:                                              

·       5+ years’ Quality Engineering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment including managing the Quality Management System (QMS) and testing methodologies.

·       Experience leading RCCA problem solving methodology.

·       Experience performing risk assessment in making decisions regarding quality.

 

Preferred:

·       Experience as a hands-on floor Quality Engineer that drives root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies is a major plus.

 

EDUCATION:                                                                                    

·       Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
