Job Description

The Production Coordinator oversees supervisor- assigned aspects of the production process on the assigned shift(s), ensuring that all daily operations are performed accurately, safely and customer requirements are met. Provides training and direction to shift personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows written processes, Manufacturing Standard Procedures (MSP’s) and verbal instructions from Operations Manager/Supervisor.
  • Under direction from supervisor, organizes and assigns work to Operators, Maskers and other production personnel. Provides direction in regards to quality standards, processes, schedules, priorities, and work instructions. Is not responsible for administering disciplinary actions, hiring or dismissals, but is responsible for keeping supervisor informed of any such personnel issues which arise. May join the supervisor when disciplinary action is being administered. May provide input on performance appraisals.
  • Coaches or mentors employees to achieve a higher performance level through improved teamwork, efficiencies, methods, or product/process knowledge.
  • Sets the example for behavior and performance in area of responsibility by presenting self in a professional manner, supporting company goals and objectives, treating others with respect and dignity, communicating clearly, listening carefully, providing timely follow-up, demonstrating ethical behavior, and following company policies. Work is performed at a consistently high level of quality. Provides information to and otherwise collaborates with others in Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Purchasing, Scheduling and Operations to effect cost reduction, work flow, production scheduling, labor planning, quality improvement, and best use of resources. Makes recommendations to improve processes, promote safety and meet customer requirements. Provides employee training, guidance and assistance that enable shift personnel to successfully perform current or new processes.
  • Troubleshoots and performs light maintenance on assigned equipment. Orders pans as needed.

May interface with outside contractors.

  • In a timely manner, accurately and fully completes reports, forms, logs and spreadsheets as required. Assures that reports and forms assigned to production personnel are completed accurately and completely, and submitted in a timely manner. May be asked to compile data.
  • Can perform job duties in the areas of Production, Quality Inspection and Shipping and Receiving, and is able to back up these areas as needed.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends shift meetings, production meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
  • May be required to make presentations to large groups of people (training, informational, etc) Is aware of and adheres to plant safety rules. Polices proper use of safety devices, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safe work practices in assigned area.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area by enforcing and following housekeeping rules.
  • May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of three years successful experience as a production employee at SCS in order to develop skills used in masking and/or coating operations.

BASIC SKILLS:

  • Ability to clearly communicate and comprehend in English work instructions, production results, quality issues, training procedures, and similar subjects, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be a top performer, a well respected member of the team, an effective communicator, and have consistently high quality of work and excellent attendance.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions and manipulate electronic spreadsheets.
  • Possess intermediate skills with MS Office software: MSWord, MSExcel, MSOutlook/Lotus Notes.

          Ability to effectively work as a team member as well as individually.

  • Moderate to high degree of manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Possess mechanical ability and problem-solving ability in order to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish between the colors of red, orange, yellow, blue, green and violet with or without accommodation.
  • Able to read at a 20/20 visual acuity using a Jaeger eye chart (near vision) with or without vision correction. Able to read No. 1 at 14″ distance, or No. 2 at 20″ distance, or No. 3 at 24″ distance.
