Job Description
Responsible for the release of materials to operations and the coordination of material flow between
departments. Manages the workflow priorities and resolves material issues to meet on-time deliveries.
Provides accurate reports on the location and progress of materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Execute, plan, and control programs through operations (manufacturing, test, quality, supply chain, etc.) to
ensure timely delivery of products to the customer.
2. Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments, and
communicates with various department managers/supervisors, to resolve any material/subassembly
issues.
3. Reports program status and schedule at meetings, and as required, to Senior Management, Program
Manager, and Engineering.
4. Performs complex transactions in MRP system. Compiles and maintains MRP generated reports and Excel
spreadsheets of Work In Process (WIP) status including location of material, shortages, open sales orders,
material delivery dates and Can-Build status.
5. Prepares purchase requisitions by calculating lead-time, floor scrap, minimum ordering level and set-up
factors, to schedule parts required to support assembly schedules.
6. Expedites and works with purchasing and planning to eliminate material/subassembly shortages and to
meet delivery dates as well as long term goals.
7. Analyzes Bills of Materials (BOM’s) and drawings.
8. Release kits to production with proper travelers, operation sheet, and applicable documentation.
9. Reports/resolves any problems or difficulties impacting the on-time delivery of jobs.
10. Follow processing of internal Manufacturing Orders (MO’s) to assure that items and assemblies will be
completed on schedule.
11. Process Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) so that WIP is at current revision.
12. Process Discrepant Material Reports (DMR’s) to ensure replacement material is transferred to WIP or
ordered, and to purge discrepant and effective material from production orders, kits, and stock.
13. Research and resolve inventory and kit discrepancies.
14. Assure production orders are closed out in MRP system prior to shipping.
15. Maintains a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with
others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience or Associate’s degree and
minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
• Production Control, planning, and supply chain experience.
• Experience in tracking products through the manufacturing cycle, including handling electronic
parts and assemblies, mechanical parts, printed circuit boards (PCB’s), and RF subassemblies
highly preferred.
• 3 years’ experience in tracking products through the manufacturing cycle, including handling
electronic parts and assemblies, mechanical parts, printed circuit boards (PCB’s), and RF
subassemblies.
• Must be familiar with drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM’s), manufacturing and assembly drawings
and shop orders. Must also have basic knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts.
• Knowledge of MRP system.
• Excellent communications skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project proficiency
