Job Description

  • Manage and coordinate the efforts of assigned engineers and technicians on multiple engineering projects to achieve timely completion and meet performance, cost, quality and manufacturability targets.
  • Provide project leadership role to manage and/or coordinate all design team members and other resources, including outsourced and offshored team members, to achieve timely completion of design projects from product definition and specification to product release and production manufacture. Facilitate and conduct design review meetings in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure coordination of all departments at key steps within the design process.
  • Coordinate the activities of Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and other personnel to ensure that all technical and delivery requirements are met n assigned programs or projects, for internal, outsourced and offshore project teams.
  • Responsible for selecting and managing outsource/offshore teams needed to address engineering workload above and beyond in-house engineering capacity. 
  • Coordinate and manage data and information flow between local engineering staff and outsourced/offshored engineering staff.
  • Develop plans, schedules, and identify resources required to develop products from market requirement through product release. Identify risk areas and develop contingency plans to eliminate or mitigate risk that could result in schedule delays or failure to meet specification or design plan requirements.
  • Develop, articulate and present technical or business information appropriately targeted to meet the needs of audiences at all levels (including technical and non-technical) and at all business levels including business executives in both written, verbal and presentation forms.
  • Take the initiative to research, propose, and/or implement new methods, processes, procedures, or tools that would improve the quality, timeliness, or cost effectiveness of products or services provided by the outsource/offshore teams.
  • Mentor, coach, and train engineers to facilitate their ability to progress to higher levels of technical and professional achievement.
  • Prepare and deliver regular performance appraisals and other timely feedback to assigned engineering staff in a way that promotes overall performance growth of the department. Make recommendations for promotions, wage increases, incentives and other staffing changes.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar field of studies is required. Graduate degree desirable.
  • Seven (7) or more years of engineering experience in analog and digital circuit design and mixed signal design,  including analog to digital conversion, processors, and I/O communications and discrete I/Os.
  • Three (3) or more years of related engineering management experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams, which includes hardware, software, test, mechanical, and PCB design team members.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with offshore engineering teams.
  • Experience in managing outsourced and offshored projects.
  • Experience in power electronics design, thermal analysis, electrical stress analysis, worst case analysis, FMEA analysis, tolerance analysis, aging analysis and EMI analysis.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as LT-Spice, P-Spice, OrCAD, Mozaix, Allegro and Pantheon are desirable
  • Familiarity with multiple communication protocols including CAN, RS232/422/485, SPI, JTAG, PCI, PCIe, 1G/10G Ethernet.
