Job Description
- Accountable for assigned team member’s development, performance, compliance, and results.
- Responsible for the development and performance of assigned new and existing suppliers with the goal of supporting commodity strategies and production.
- Drive on-time delivery/turn around time that enables production order starts on-time. Reduce scrap and rework through improving supplier quality.
- Achieve annual and 5 year operating plans and reduce inventory through cost reductions and Inventory Management.
- Oversee internal operational communications through company’s cross functional leadership team, the adherence of a MPS per the Master Scheduler, and the shipments/sales that achieve EBITDA, Cash, and Balance Sheet performance.
- Performance management of the suppliers on the basis of price, quality, service support/responsiveness/delivery, availability, reliability, leadership, and technology.
- Drive the suppliers to assure products and services are at production readiness and operational excellent levels and assess/maintain a supplier’s production and distribution capabilities.
- Support the Director of Supply Chain as required, in negotiating, closing, and implementing supply contracts.
- Create Regional Commodity Strategies, as required.
- Responsible for dispute/problem resolutions with any assigned suppliers.
- Prepare and provide the required budget for Supply Chain.
- Ensure effective inventory management techniques are in place to maintain inventory accuracy, reduce carrying costs and increase inventory turns.
- Responsible for the effective training and of employees within the Supply Chain.
- Maintain a business-like, productive and disciplined work environment.
- Works closely with new and existing aerospace suppliers on the development and qualification of new manufacturing, assembly and test processes
- Responsible for oversight of monitoring supplier deviation requests and non-conformances
- Supports failure analysis and corrective action with suppliers to identify and resolve the root cause of the problem
- Executes transition standard work for new sources to qualified suppliers
- Provides input and reviews technical documentation for RFP’s/RFQ’s and technical contract issues
- Establishes and/or maintains a system of metrics to continually monitor measurable supplier performance
- Between 25%-50% travel may be required for first 4 months, reduced to ~15% thereafter
Job Skills
- B.A. or B.S. degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Experience with a MRP system is required.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a necessity.
- APICS and/or C.P.M. training/certification is a plus.
- Ability to negotiate cost reductions with suppliers and develop RFQ’s
- Desired ability to develop cost models including “Should Cost Models”
- Supply chain experience such as Value Stream Mapping, Duty Collection/Drawback/Tax Reclaim, or NAFTA Qualification
- Solid skills with benchmarking
- Ability to find and introduce through transition standard work new sources of product
- Proven record of progressive savings for the company
- Excellent customer service skills, with an advanced understanding of customer relationship building
- Ability to use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Six Sigma, ACE or LEAN experience preferred
- Knowledge of REACH RoHS preferred
