US gains 13,100 temp jobs in August

The U.S. added 13,100 temporary help services job in August on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The year-over-year growth rate held steady compared to previous months.

The temporary penetration rate in August was 1.99 percent, unchanged from July. The temporary penetration rate measures temp employment as a percentage of total U.S. jobs.

Total nonfarm employment rose by 169,000 for total employment of approximately 136.13 million. The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 7.3 percent in August from 7.4 percent in July.
