Job Description
- FAA – Public Trust Clearance Required to start
- Responsible for provisioning the system, managing the virtual environments (VM), and installing and configuring the Linux based Red Hat Operating System.
- Ensures that system hardware, software, and related procedures adhere to the system’s design and architecture.
- Manage system access user accounts and develop the procedures for system configuration to support production builds.
- Assist program teams with technical analysis, and support the testing and roll-out of new patches. Participation on programs focus on smoothing the transition from system development to operational readiness within the program’s life-cycle.
- Perform software installations and upgrades to RedHat operating systems and layered software packages, and maintain them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
- Administer assigned Enterprise systems such as enterprise data storage administration (EMC/NetApp), enterprise server virtualization (VMWare) to ensure systems are functioning properly.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and wide area network related problems associated with the assigned Enterprise system(s).
- Coordinate with remote site functions for installations, moves, and troubleshooting issues associated with assigned system(s); provide recommendations for related computer hardware and software purchases.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve issues, arrange service, and obtain support.
- Install and provide support for commercially obtained software.
- Monitor and tune the system(s) to achieve good working order and optimum level of performance and appropriate security.
- Ensure server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
- Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines. Knowledgeable of networking associated with LAN based servers and workstations.
- Manage and direct proactive and reactive systems administration activities to ensure the availability, integrity, and reliability of networked and stand-alone resources.
Job Skills
- Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
- BS/BA (or equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; or Associate’s Degree w/relevant experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Systems Administration / Systems Engineering certification(s) in RedHat (RHCE, RHCT, RHCSA).
- Minimum of 4 years of systems administration experience (preferably in RedHat).
- Understanding and/or experience with the following: RedHat Linux – Basic Network concepts, Linux kickstarts, Server installation.
- Minimum of 3 years of UNIX operating system security configuration.
- Ability to perform complex infrastructure design, including planning of interactions of multiple applications (HA, DB, Large Networks), is a plus.

- Desired Additional Skills: Knowledge of scripting for automation of tools (BASH/Python/Perl); Experience with RPM builds for software packages; Knowledge of lab infrastructure: power requirements, datacenter build-out experience, how to harden a lab.
- Experience with supporting any of the following applications or technology: Splunk, RHEL – SMB, IPTables, SELinux, Zabbix Mysql, VMWare ESXi experience, Pacemaker HA Clustering, Symantec NetBackup, Veeam
