Job Description
• Work as a member of the Material Team to insure a steady flow of material through the plant.
• Obtain goods and supplies from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of course and urgency of need.
• Place and maintain purchase orders as required by MRP
• Ensure all orders reach the supplier and delivery is confirmed in a timely manner
• Expedite orders, track deliveries and resolve invoicing issues
• Assist in analyzing and updating daily reports
• Place purchase orders for tools and supplies
• Maintain required inventory levels of labels and chemicals
• Arrange for return of defective material
• Perform related job duties as required
Job Skills
• Associates degree in Business or fields – Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred
• Two or three years’ experience in a purchasing environment preferred
• Understanding of purchasing processes required
• Good negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills – must be detail oriented
• A good team player and able to work independently
• Self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments at the same time
• Knowledge of MRP systems preferred
• Knowledge and proficient in software tools such as Word and Excel
• Knowledge of ISO quality, environmental and safety requirements a plus
