Job Description

  • Current driver’s license may be required.
  • Must be able to lift minimum of 50 pounds
   

 

  • Counts, measures or weighs articles to verify contents of shipments against bills of lading, invoices or storage receipts.
  • Provides accurate and timely packaging and shipping of all goods to meet contractual requirements, internal schedules or commitments, and ensure that departmental packaging methods are adequate to preclude damage during shipment.

 

SHIPPING

  • Maintains shipping records, files and status reports. Maintains in-house distribution of shipping documentation
  • May prepare and maintain shipping and packaging procedures, as well as inventory of packing and packaging material under supervision.
  • Develops and maintains tariff files and rate sheets as required.
  • Routes shipments to appropriate destinations
  • Requests GBLs from DCAS and submits to DCAS all orders shipped via U.S. Mail.
  • Interprets and complies with packaging specifications required per contract.
  • Develops packaging methods and alternatives and coordinates transmissibility testing under supervision.
  • Initiates and distributes all DD250s and DD1149s.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  • Coordinates multiple routes

 

RECEIVING

  • Receives materials/packages from vendor delivered by freight truck.
  • Processes received materials with Purchase Order through Material System.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Examines articles for defects and sorts articles according to extent of defect.
  • Attaches identification data onto article.
  • Records factors causing goods to be returned.
  • Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments.
  • Routes items to departments.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from
  • shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Performs in-process inspection of received materials.
  • Must be familiar with ESD prevention requirements and understand how to handle static-sensitive devices and what constitutes proper packaging and safeguards.
  • Maintains required inspection records and documentation.
  • Enforces strict compliance with safety, handling and safeguarding of all documents and products to prevent loss or damage.

Job Skills

  • Initiates Deficiency Inspection Reports (DIR) and records and corrective action requests as necessary.

MATERIAL CONTROL

  • Performs duties related to kit pulls, inventory counts, and other miscellaneous supply control duties as assigned
  • No clearance required, but will handle COMSEC cryptographic items that will require the person to be a US citizen.
  • Minimum three months related experience and/or training. Formal training and knowledge of Method 1C and Method 1A packaging is preferred. Requires assistance and training in the performance of job function. Entry Level.
  • Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
