Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer will provide suppliers standardized, accurate and timely feedback on nonconforming material, while reducing the time from problem identification to action. Develop a strong understanding of supplier related defects, commodity specific workmanship standards, and appropriate actions to take when a non conformance have been identified. Foster a positive atmosphere and strong working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers.

  • Evaluate supplier defects, determine appropriate disposition actions, and initiate communication to supplier and internal customers.
  • Recognize repetitive failures, trends and issues that may require additional root cause and corrective action and/or may need containment if the defect is not an isolated event.
  • Initiate and communicate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) with ability to manage containment, RCCA, and effectiveness.
  • Initiate action with Manufacturing, Program Quality, Design Engineering, Test Engineering, and/or FRACAS to minimize supplier related rework and non-conformance’s.
  • Implement and improve Supplier Quality Flow down processes.
  • Work with Design Engineering and Component Engineering to update drawings when necessary.
  • Develop and improve Receiving Inspection / Source Inspection plans to reduce escapes.
  • Ability to lead Supplier Corrective Action Board and/or Supplier Quality Review Board.
  • Ability to manage project plans and drive actions for incident response related to high visibility and significant business impact related supplier non-conformance’s.
  • Lead, participate or execute continuous improvements, which improves department performance, efficiency, effectiveness, helps achieve cost savings and/or improves supplier quality performance.
  • Maintain compliance with the physical work environment and material handling to be compliance with FOD, ESD, safety, etc.

 

Job Skills

B.S. in an Engineering Discipline

Must be US Citizen

Minimum 5 years industry related experience required

This position requires a blend of technical and analytical ability, strong verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of professional acumen. Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and take proactive steps to drive improvement.
