Job Description

Product Line Managers (PLM) is responsible for all activities of assigned product lines as well as
supporting product development. The PLM is primarily responsible for the assigned product line P&L
and overall operating performance. This role has responsibility for understanding the market as a
whole, he/she must be able to quantitatively depict the market for current products, know and
understand the competitors related to the product line, and understand where core technologies and
engineering capabilities could be profitably introduced. The PLM will set product line strategy and
technology, product, and program roadmaps. The PLM will report into the VP/GM Strategy &
Development .
Essential Functions:
• Create and manage the product line Profit & Loss (P&L), with a focus on maximizing revenue,
profit and margin. Participates and contributes to the overall business unit strategic plan.
• Responsible for defining long-range strategies consistent with the market, business, and
corporate goals and objectives. These include, but are not limited to market, product,
technology, customer penetration, and revenue growth.
• Understand, articulate, and capture customer market needs and problems and then translate
them into solutions addressing market requirements for new product development
• Develop growth strategy with revenue targets for current portfolio of products as well as
rationalize current product portfolio. Responsible for each stock keeping unit (SKU) within the
product line, ensuring each SKU is financially justified. Manage the product life cycle and the
product review process to rationalize unprofitable products.
• Responsible for identifying market trends, customer insights, and growth opportunities
• Understand customers’ business models, technology, product, and program roadmaps and how
it applies to the company’s products
• Development of business case analysis, return on investment (ROI) for research & development
investments in accordance with roadmap priorities.
• Work with MARCOM to develop marketing and communication strategies
• Works with Site Leadership and Operations to define product pricing strategies, ensuring future
costs, and pricing meet market and internal margin demands. Monitors to ensure all products
and projects meet the specific objectives, taking correction actions as required.
• Act as a key customer interface, advocate for the customer in program management and
development
• PLM is responsible for building and maintaining close customer relationships
• Analyze potential partner and other relationships for the product line
• Responsible for developing consumer and channel communication strategies for new product
launch
• Contribute to the development of training tools for the Sales Team
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience in product line
management, technical marketing, product marketing engineering with increasing
responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in all product planning and project management activities including generation
planning, pricing analysis, project management etc.
• Financial analysis experience to include an understanding of cost structures and basic
knowledge of cost accounting principals

• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time
