Job Description

  • Performs a wide variety of electronic and electro-mechanical subassembly and assembly operations of a semi-skilled nature to build up and assemble difficult and complex units such as power supplies, modules, chassis drawers, cable harnesses, electronic systems and subassemblies.
  • Determines methods and sequence of assembly operations where complete information is not readily available or follows assembly shop and production operation sheets, wire lists, samples, blue prints, schematic and verbal instructions to perform a wide variety of assembly operations such as wiring, component installation and hand soldering.
  • Must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Performs complex wiring, soldering and assembly of subassemblies and final assemblies.
  • Reads and interprets complex wiring diagrams, color codes, schematics and wire lists.
  • Builds harnesses of high complexity.
  • Terminates various multi-conductor and coaxial cables.
  • Utilizing a high degree of proficiency, wires and solders various components within circuits and chassis.
  • Performs mechanical assembly of high complexity chassis and cabinets.
  • Occasionally employs basic knowledge of electrical theory and its application to basic wiring and testing using voltage and ohmmeters.
  • Disassembles, modifies, reworks, refurbishes, reassembles and tests units as required.
  • Sets up and operates automatic and semiautomatic assembly equipment.
  • May be required to perform continuity checks and rework.
  • Complies with ISO procedures and regulations. Maintains a safe and clean work area. Complies with company policies and guidelines regarding inventory control and timekeeping.

Job Skills

  • Must be proficient with all hand tools, basic mechanical inspection equipment such as calipers and indicators and electrical test equipment such as multimeters.
  • Must be proficient in soldering techniques, color codes and component identification.
  • Must be able to perform assembly calculations with accuracy.
  • Must be ability to read blueprints and work with small parts.
  • Requires understanding of concept of Work Orders and Bills of Materials.
  • Must be able to follow verbal instructions or procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of computer usage specifically Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communication skills are required for effective interface with all contacts.
  • High School or technical trade school graduate preferred, or training in military service graduate.
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of progressively difficult related electro/mechanical assembly and wiring experience.
