Job Description
- Performs calculations, plots curves, charts and graphs to establish and verify details of design involving function, strength, life, durability, etc.
- Reviews the project requirements with Engineering and/or the department manager.
- Solves fairly complex design problems, satisfies parameters.
- Assists in breadboard design problems in accordance with specifications through the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and manual drafting processes.
- Determines all specific detailed requirements of the design, i.e. allowances for motions and clearances, assembly procedures, critical machining dimensions, etc.
- Recommends, subject to confirmation, the material selection for all parts.
- Assists in cost and direct labor estimates, as required.
- Performs similar tasks as assigned.
- Maintains a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.
Job Skills
- Technical high school diploma or equivalent. Advanced coursework in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and machine shop practices required. College level engineering courses are preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted for undergraduate requirements.
- 5 years of electrical, mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical design experience, of which a minimum of two years have been design work on electro-mechanical precision equipment required.
- 3 years design work with comparable products required.
- 2 years concentrated design experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) required. AutoCAD /Inventor.
