Job Description
- Design and develop new interconnect assemblies for advanced development introduction.
- Design and develop new medical products concepts to address evolving medical market needs within scope (e.g., performance and quality), schedule (e.g., on time delivery), and budget (e.g., price) constraints.
- Develops design solutions to complex technical problems where analysis of data requires an in-depth evaluation of many factors. Solutions require use of ingenuity, creativity, and statistical analysis.
- Performs work under general supervision on multiple Advanced Development projects. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
- Translate functional needs into achievable product specifications and design features.
- Participate on FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and risk analysis reviews on NPI (New Product Introduction) products.
- Contribute to document product development progress conforming to operating procedures of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) phase-gate system.
- Direct proof-of-concept and design verification electrical testing and write final test reports for communication with internal and external customers.
- Ensure new designs meet relevant environmental and regulatory Design History File (DHF) requirements.
- Resolve quality problems associated with design and act as a technical resource to other cross-functional engineers as needed.
- Work with measurement instrumentation such as TDR, VNA, and BERT to develop automated test solutions.
- Work with cross-functional core teams, including Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Test, Tool and Model Shop, Quality Engineering, Purchasing, and Sales Engineering, to launch medical products.
- Properly document and internally communicate all technical discoveries, inventions, and intellectual property. Maintain confidential and proprietary information and communications as property of company
Job Skills
- B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or demonstrated relevant engineering experience; M.S. in Engineering is a plus.
- Five or more years of related electro-mechanical product design and development engineering experience with a B.S. degree or two or more years with a M.S. degree. If you do not have a B.S. degree – must have additional 5 years of engineering experience in the relevant field.
- Medical product development experience and knowledge of FDA regulations preferred.
- Working knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes (e.g., plastic injection molding, machining, anodizing, soldering, automated assembly), sterilization, cable interconnect assemblies, bulk cable design principles, and advanced statistical techniques.
- System level understanding of the analog and digital circuitry, AD and DA conversion. Understanding of EO and OE conversion preferred.
- Good understanding of transmission line theory, signal integrity, knowledge of electromagnetics is a plus.
- Working knowledge of measurement instrumentation like TDR, VNA, and BERT.
- Demonstrated aptitude of innovative mechanical and electrical design skills including but not limited to frequent use of 2D and 3D CAD (Pro/Engineer) modeling, circuit analysis and simulations, HFSS, Agilent ADS, Matlab, LabView, PCB design, and prototype creation, programming skills is a plus
- Willing to travel globally.
