Job Description

  • Provides expert judgment, analysis and direction to the program director for the development and implementation of processes required for the successful cost effective manufacture of highly engineered build to print products.
  • Lead effort to drive closure on concessions and reduce MRB. Must have a bias for action to engage all stakeholders to resolve technical issues impeding production part flow.
  • Strong follow-through on Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions, including Customer interactions.
  • Provide the required guidance and leadership to the team as necessary in order to create, develop and perfect manufacturing processes which are cost effective and conducive to ease of manufacture
  • Provide oversight, input and direction to ensure that manufacturing process direction, tooling and design meet or exceed all program goals (ease of manufacture and profitability) as well as all customer requirements (quality and delivery)
  • Provide guidance and monitor the technical activities of site Product and Process Engineers. Review and approve manufacturing processes as required
  • Responsible for all new product technical requirements/issues including concurrent engineering interface with the customer to facilitate design/process changes which aid production and lower cost
  • Conduct process improvements by leading Six Sigma projects, design of experiments and design review events for continuous improvement in manufacturing process efficiency driving reduction in product lead/cycle time to improve profitability
  • Working in collaboration with corporate engineering leaders, Investigate and recommend machine tool and equipment needs to accomplish or improve the required manufacturing process capabilities or capacity.
  • Provide technical direction and leadership in recommending changes in design, specifications, drawings and procedures that will eliminate manufacturing problems and improve production rates while reducing scrap and rework related costs and lead time
  • Visit suppliers to assure that the supplier manufacturing process meets or exceeds all internal and external requirements on delivery and quality
  • Assure that the supplier manufacturing process will produce technical product in the required quantity in accordance with product delivery schedule
  • Develop good relationships with peers at the customer
  • Oversee and lead product and key characteristic audits as required by our customers
  • Must support all EH&S requirements within the facility and improve ergonomics of associated tooling relative to process
  • Maintain awareness of technology improvements

Job Skills

  • Travel to other company sites is expected (10%-30%)
  • Proven awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions required
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safety practices and recognize hazards required. Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Demonstrated ability to meet attendance standards as defined in company policies required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Engineering Software Programs
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma theories and practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of product costing
  • B.S. Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in a related field Experience within the aerospace industry preferred with technical knowledge. Hot section aero engine experience highly desirable. Experience in a precision machining and fabrications business highly desirable.
  • Must have ability to lift / move up to 40 pounds and occasionally may be required to lift / move up to 50 pounds
  • Must have the ability to push/pull objects distances of up to 15 feet
