Job Description
- Responsible for all quality improvement issues related to vendors and suppliers of materials, products or services used in development or manufacture.
- Assesses potential new suppliers.
- Works with suppliers to resolve issues with nonconforming material and get RCCA.
- Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) to facilitate Supplier caused “rework” and RTS MRB dispositions.
- Presents on a monthly basis to senior management status of the SQA system, Supplier Performance and Supplier issues.
- Participates as a frontline participant in customer audits.
- Works with Purchasing in decision making to recover scrap dollars from suppliers.
- Facilitates the NMR process as part of the NMR team, processing NMR’s in a timely manner to obtain company goals.
- Participates in technical support for suppliers and customers requiring some travel.
- Provides technical direction and expertise to other quality engineers.
Conducts periodic supplier audits. Performs other duties as assigned and requested.

- Must have excellent analytical, decision making and communications skills.
- Good overall knowledge of the working relationships between the customer and suppliers.
- Collect, analyze, and present quality data to upper management, including supplier overall performance, supplier caused scrap, and rework.
- Must know general quality systems requirements as defined in ISO 9000/2008, AS9100 C, and NADCAP
- Ability to determine if supplier inspection capabilities (i.e., inspection equipment, gage R & R) are in place and are sufficient for the scope of work.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with use of statistical tools such as Mini-tab.
- Strong familiarity with Process control and reduction in variation techniques and the ability to apply them.
- Ability to verify that all supplier special process approvals are in-place. When necessary able to prepare special process submittal packages for customer approval.
- Knowledgeable of SPC, FMEA,and lean manufacturing techniques (e.g., P&W Process Certification, Honeywell, MPC and Rolls-Royce CPP programs). PO Reviews, QA Requirements, FAI,COPQ, RR and PWA, PWC Requirements.
- Disposition of nonconforming material (NMR).
- Background in aerospace auditing techniques and practices, both internally and with suppliers.
- Ability to travel 20%.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in technical field required.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the quality assurance field with aerospace OEM requirements.
- Knowledgeable with ISO9000, AS9100, and NADCAP requirements.
- Familiar with geometric tolerances, and supplier surveillance techniques, and special processes.
- Experience with the following is highly desirable: layout inspection skills, DQR, mini-tab, related training, lean manufacturing, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Project
