Job Description

• Maintains a variety of journals and ledgers in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Maintains existing reports and develops new reports.
• Works closely with the Assistant Controller/Controller/VP of Finance for monthly/quarterly/yearly Sector/Group/ Corporate reporting.
• Maintains Capital Asset records from inception (CER) through disposition.
• Identifies, labels and maintains records of company property.
• Records description, value, location and other pertinent information.
• Conducts periodic in¬ventories to keep records current.
• Prepares entries reflecting depreciation/amortization, sale, acquisition or re¬tirement of an asset.
• Completes monthly intercompany billings.
• Completes monthly Intercompany AR and AP confirmations.
• Performs reconciliation of the cash accounts to bank statements and GL activity.
• Completes HFM upload of Trial Balance and assists with Supplementary schedules.
• Reconciles monthly prepaid expenses and process journal entries.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Performs cash collections.
• Backup for payroll processing.
• Obeys and enforces all applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Performs all duties in complete compliance with all legal and ethical standards.
• Maintains the security of classified and/or company proprietary information. Provides necessary information to acquire/upgrade security clearances if required.
• Remains updated on company policies, practices and procedures and current developments within the professional field through outside training, memberships in professional organizations and self-development activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned or as judgment and necessity dictate.

Job Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.
• 7+ years experience in general accounting in a manufacturing environment to include general ledger, accounts payable and payroll work.
• Solid understanding of GAAP.
• Familiar with ERP systems and government accounting.
• Strong business acumen and excellent analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines. Must also be able to work as a team. Must have high attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral/written communications skills with internal/external customers. Ability to interact well with people at all levels.
• Ability to work in an environment of continuous improvement and identify and suggest process improvements.
