Job Description
• Manage and direct research and development programs to meet organizational needs and capitalize on potential new products. • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. • Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. • Develops and implements research and development procedures and techniques. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. • Generate prescribed instructions and procedures for R&D Engineers. • Assist in the development of products and procedures. • Record required data from measurements and observations. • Follow firearm safety procedures and maintain security of weapons. • Write reports as required. • Train others in processes and procedures. • Maintain the confidentiality of company designs, data procedures and processes. • Develop design concepts on 3-D CAD system and perform static, dynamic, and stress analyses to validate each new concept. • Produce drawings to ANSI-Y-14.5 format—up to and including level III. • Chair and participate in design reviews, assuring that products meet the overall design objectives and are producible, have no safety flaws, and are saleable. • Oversee the manufacturing of prototypes, managing the overall project so that all required prototypes components are available to meet project schedules. • Develop and conduct test procedures to validate concepts, direct and coordinate testing. • Able to work as R&D manager and at other times, participate as a team member. • Participate in the testing of ammo / weapons / accessories.
