Job Description
- Leads a team responsible for inspection and testing of product including incoming receipt, in-process inspection, and final inspection/release.
- Collects, compiles, and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
- Coordinates all activities associated with quality release of product.
- Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and other product requirements and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Trains and provides guidance to inspectors and apprentices on execution of their duties.
- Trains and provides guidance to CMM operators and programmers.
- Oversees the preparation of all required paperwork needed for the shipment of product.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate, or indicate deviations from, existing standards.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
- Assists in dispositioning of parts.
- Manages and directs assigned calibration technician(s).
- Ensures proper operation of all equipment in the department that is used to verify conformance to requirements.
- Regularly reviews and follows all ISO documentation relating to the quality system.
- Manages time and attendance of assigned staff.
- Holds team members accountable to quality of work and expected professional behavior.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, with continual emphasis on promoting employee health and safety and using proper safety techniques.
Job Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent with 8 years minimum related experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 4 years minimum related experience.
- Previous experience as supervisor or team lead.
- Previous experience as Quality Inspector in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven understanding of ANSI-Y-14.5 and geometric tolerancing.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills. Customer service skills with an established bias for action in a team environment. Proven track record of successful leadership, situation analysis, detail-orientation, and related project management skills.
- Proven track record in the development of innovative ideas and strategies for cost containment, plan design, and implementation of best practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products, related business applications and office equipment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Preferred Qualifications: Machine shop experience; Aerospace industry experience; GE Aviation certified DSQR, Rolls Royce DQR or other prime source inspection experience; Familiarity with Process Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
- May be required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and week-ends.
- The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
