Job Description

  • Oversees New Product Introduction design engineering resources associated with phase/gate development process.
  • Enables creative design solutions for medical interconnect products involving fine wire applications for surgical, diagnostic, imaging, and other markets.
  • Effectively engages in customer interactions to win new opportunities and ensure success for existing projects.
  • Establishes accountabilities and manages resources to comply with Business Processes and the Quality Management System as they apply to design engineering.
  • Creates and leads the application of new procedures that drive development engineering activities.
  • Drives continuous improvement to reduce NPI cycle time & improve on-time & on-budget delivery of product development.
  • Manages engineering resource activities applying tools such as S&OP and QP3 tools.
  • Assesses organizational needs, develops strategy for enhancing staff skills, and executes technical succession plans.
  • Provides hands-on technical leadership through the product development cycle and recommends design approaches as required.
  • Manages IP (invention disclosures, patent applications, trade secrets, customer agreements, innovation recognition) associated with the development of innovative new designs.
  • Oversees interaction of design team with other disciplines (Marketing, Quality, Operations, Sustaining Engineering, etc.).

Job Skills

  • Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent with 8 or more years of experience.  Masters degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience with new product engineering design management and people management.
  • Background in medical device development and manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks, make decisions, and solve problems independently.
  • Experience in a fast paced environment where “speed-to-market” is identified as a key performance indicator.
