Job Description

  • Responsible for providing engineering drafting support and other related documentation.
  • The primary role includes hands on drafting support (2 dimensional and 3 dimensional), preparation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and the coordination of drafting task priorities with engineering manager.
  • Create engineering drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for component parts and assemblies with an emphasis on electronic packaging.
  • Maintain CAD standards and libraries.
  • Incumbent is recognized as fully competent in all conventional areas.
  • Incorporate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) into engineering documentation.
  • Maintain CAD templates and formats per company drafting standards.
  • Maintain electronic CAD libraries and modeling standards including part level metadata.
  • Create 3D CAD models using best design practices.
  • Knowledge of industry mechanical drafting techniques and requirements based on ASME Y14 Drafting Manual Series of documentation.
  • Work independently with designers and engineers on various projects, producing detail and assembly drawings for fabrication.
  • Prioritize and manage drafting tasks to support the budgeted hours and scheduled due dates for projects.
  • Self-check and correct all work prior to submitting to the project designers for checking.
  • Insure drafting style consistency between drawings per company drafting standards.
  • Verify the nominal fits of all parts as they are detailed from an overall layout. Seek out clarity and advice from designers as needed to insure design question are resolved in an efficient manner.
  • Capable of completing tolerance studies of assembled components.
  • Translate electronic documents between various formats (DWG, DXF, STP, PDF, ZIP, etc.)
  • Create thorough detail and assembly drawings from designer’s layouts.
  • Develop Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), including the creation of redline markups to drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Work with engineering and configuration management to assess the impacts and classification of the change.

Job Skills

  • Associates degree (or equivalent) in Computer Aided Design (CAD) or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years previous experience is required.
  • Good working knowledge of dimensioning and geometric tolerances.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with machining and assembly processes.
  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
  • Competent with computer software such as AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, Solid Works and Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
