Job Description

  • Responsible for the accurate scheduling of conforming material in accordance with required manufacturing start dates and the release thereof, managing capacity and load data throughout all four facilities, and the management of all material stores and movement with the manufacturing sites.
  • Responsible for overseeing the direct production of all parts per the Master Production Schedule per company’s Quality Manual. In addition, the on-going effort of reducing internal scrap / rework, improve inventory turns, increase OTD, develop cost out programs and drive financial goals through open communication channels with all departments are also a direct responsibility.
  • Maintain a Master Production schedule based on company’s customer demand, recommending resources to ensure available machine/manpower capacity.
  • Ensures that the Production Support priorities are met.
  • Ensures that the system is in place to effectively administer inventory management, including inventory turnover, cycle counts, and the valuation of inventory transactions.
  • Ensures that all MRO materials are in place to meet the customer requirements.
  • Implement systems & controls to monitor all of the departmental transactions thru Syteline and perform the required audits.
  • Maintain and refine the systems associated with product shipments to include clear work instructions, proper packaging, and all respective paperwork generation.
  • Manage perpetual inventory accuracy via cycle counting and the maintenance of related transactional instruction within the MRP system.
  • Oversee proper material transport & storage throughout the facilities, and when in shipment to alternate locations.
  • Implement systems to ensure that support is provided to the Quality Department for audits & compliance.
  • Ensures that a system is created for on-going training for all employees within the department.
  • Responsible for respective personnel activities for all shifts.
  • Monitor progress of all manufacturing requirements against the Master Production Schedule.
  • Ensures open communication is established and maintained with every department at company.
  • Responsible for employee discipline.
  • Enforce the use of all company’s systems and policies with Supervisors and ensure flow-down to their employees.

Job Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Experience with an ERP/MRP system at a Super-User level is required.
  • APICS and/or C.P.M. training/certification is preferred.
  • Microsoft Office programs, to include but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project are a necessity.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a necessity.
  • Ability to work well with people and possess the skills in problem solving, situation assessment and conflict resolution.
  • The Director of Materials Management must be ready to deal with a particular situation, decide upon a course of action and implement swiftly so as to return to the normal working environment.
  • Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegating skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
