Job Description

• Receives production order, reviews blueprints and job specifications to determine assembly procedures. May be instructed on sequence of assembly.
• Review wire lists and obtain parts, subassemblies and mechanical components from stockroom preceding assembly instructions.
• Performs electrical and mechanical assembly of subassemblies, control panels and modules. Installs printed circuit board assemblies and wire harnesses into cabinet drawers. Positions and fastens parts or wires using hand tools, power hand tools and solders connections following prescribed assembly methods.
• Advises line leader of any problems in fitting or assembling parts or subassemblies.
• Frequently handles medium to heavy weight items.
• Uses hand tools and power hand tools to perform assembly tasks. Use of hand tools may include items such as pliers, wire cutters, screwdrivers, wrenches, soldering iron, crimps, electric drill etc. May perform finishing tasks such as filing, scraping, drilling, and grinding of mechanical components to ensure proper fit.
• Assembles components onto printed circuit board following blueprints and assembly drawings. Positions components, installs wires and leads, solders connections, and clips excess wire or solder.
• Cleans finished printed circuit board by wiping with solvent. Frequently handles lightweight items.
• Performs mechanical assembly of small parts or subsystems according to prescribed procedures. Visually inspects parts or subassemblies to ensure proper assembly. May use hand tools such as pliers, screwdriver, soldering iron, crimps, electric drill, etc.
• Reviews production order, assembly drawing or wire list to ensure adequate supply of materials at work area. Notifies line leader or supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
• Checks and reviews blueprint, schematics or production order prior to commencing work. Notifies line leader or supervisor in the event obvious errors are detected.
• Maintains clean and orderly work area; disposes of trash. Follows safe operating procedures and complies with safety rules. Neatly arranges raw materials and stages finished systems.
• Visually inspects completed systems for conformance to specifications.
