Job Description
• Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on manufacturing equipment and plans for and takes corrective action.
• Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
• Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes equipment to new parts or performs scheduled maintenance.
• Tests equipment to check operation.
• Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework.
• Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime,
• Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of manufacturing equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
• Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action.
• Analyzes causes of production delays and advises supervisor.
• Notifies supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
• Instructs and directs any machine operator about potential machine problems.
• Fabrication of small tools, jigs and devices to support production.
• May oil and grease equipment in absence of regular machine operator.
• May operate equipment during relief periods.
• Perform tool examination and check new incoming tools for correct dimensions and advises estimator about any deficiencies.
• Place orders after locating suppliers pertinent to the jobs in progress.
Job Skills
• Satisfactory work record, as determined by prior employment experience.
• Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools.
• High mental and visual effort required.
• Job involves standing most of shift.
• Ability to use various types of machine equipment – Ex: milling machine, band saw, drill press, welding equipment, lathes, etc.
