Job Description
- Responsible for maintaining quality standards by approving incoming materials, in process production, and finished products and recording quality results.
- Responsible for checking the raw materials and parts that make up the finished goods and assemblies.
- Inspects incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
- Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
- Inspects finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
- Uses a variety of methods to ensure that the product manufactured in-house, or purchased meets print specifications, MIL-SPECS quality standards and AS9100 specifications.
- Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
- Makes mathematical calculations to measure parts, angles, and a series of holes and compares the measurements to the blueprints.
- Verifies that purchased products from suppliers conform to company quality standards.
- Maintains a daily log on all items inspected and approves first piece manufactured for production.
- Checks various jobs in progress to ensure that machine settings have not changed or that the operator has not made any errors.
- Ensures all activities conform to all policies, procedures and instructions provided within the AS9100 Quality Manual.
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Job Skills
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be fluent in English. Excellent verbal and written English skills.
- GED, High School degree; technical and vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of on-the-job training under the supervision of a Lead Inspector.
- Capable of reading and interpreting complex drawings and blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, critical thinking skills, and proficiency with standard testing tools, micrometers, protractors, venires, gauges, magnifying glasses, optical comparators, and dial gauges and CMM programs.
- Proficient in the use of all measuring equipment including, standard testing tools, micrometers, protractors, Vernier, gauges, optical comparators, dial gauges, and CMM.
- Proficient in use of shop math, critical thinking, mechanical systems.
- Prior experience with an aerospace defense manufacturer preferred.
