Job Description

  • The Chief Engineer is responsible for planning and formulating engineering programs and organizing staff according to project requirements, customer specifications and ISO 9001 / AS 9100 standards. 
  • Plan and formulate engineering program and organize staff according to project requirements.  Establish and verify project assumptions, objectives, plans, deliverables and time lines with the client.
  • Assign project personnel to specific phases or aspects of a project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans as well as product testing.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications and ISO 9001 / AS 9100 standards.
  • Ensure that all work activity adds value, instead of unnecessary cost, to the customer.
  • Act resourcefully to ensure that work is completed within specified time and quality parameters. 
  • Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments and scheduling.  Resolve engineering design and test problems.
  • Direct integration of technical activities and products.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Identify opportunities for maximizing the value-added impact of the project (i.e., developing processes to cut costs, new product development, etc.).  Control expenditures within limitations of projects budgets focusing on both time and money.  Accurately identify and forecast major sources of cost, revenue, and risk.
  • Prepare interim and complete project reports as required.
  • Manage the professional growth and development of staff.
  • Conduct internal and external Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
  • Create Engineering Order (EO) changes.  Coordinate engineering system changes.
  • Create Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) to inform customers what will be done during testing.
  • Design test fixtures and oversee acceptance testing.
  • Create Qualification Test Procedures (QTP) showing what tests are required and how tests are to be performed.  These tests will determine how the part will act under extreme conditions and how it will perform over its lifetime.
  • Consistently demonstrate proficiency in an area of technical or professional expertise.
  • Keep up-to-date and develop greater knowledge and skills in area of technical or professional expertise.
  • Identify technology and/or areas of expertise that could provide competitive advantage.

Job Skills

  • BS in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in hydraulic valve design
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of CAD – Solidworks, Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and MIL-STD-810.
  • Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
