Job Description

  • Perform Receiving Inspection, In-Process Inspection, Final Inspection First Piece Inspection and Source Inspection.
  • Record and maintain quality data.  Create system reports as required.
  • Applicable occupational skills may include items such as: machined part inspection, gear inspection, sheet metal, pattern layout, investment and die casting inspection, mechanical assembly inspection, plastics fabrication inspection, gage inspection, tooling inspection, surface texture inspection, paint and finish inspection, package inspection.
  • Use equipment such as hand tools, gages, surface plate, indicators, sine plates, optical instruments, surface analyzer, tool maker microscope, balances, scales, hardness testers,  and CMM programming.
  • Interact with other departments outside of Quality Assurance such as Engineering, Production, and Purchasing.
  • Perform First Article Inspections in accordance with business unit requirements
  • Interaction with external customers regarding submission of product with QE guidance.
  • Assist lower level inspectors within the department.
  • Secondary Duties: Assist with MRB activity; Create simple work instructions; Perform configuration verification; Recommend inspection fixture design; Support internal audits.

 

Job Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five to eight years related experience
  • Working knowledge of at the intermediate level of advanced shop math, algebra, geometry and trig.  Basic statistics, SPC knowledge is required.  (such as: control charts objectives, variable charts, attribute charts control limits, spec limits, process capability, analysis of charts and SPC project creation)
  • Must possess the knowledge and capability of applying those techniques required to determine the acceptability of complex assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, operations sheets, sketches and procedures.  GD&T interpretation.
  • Basic knowledge of performing inspections using 3-D models and appropriate inspection equipment
  • Must be familiar with standards and shop practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Leadership ability.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
