Job Description

• Participates in the engineering design review and analysis process to recommend designs or tests methods for attaining customer specified operational reliability by performing the following duties, while requiring little or no supervision. • Maintainability, safety and human engineering disciplines are included as supplemental activities. • Component Engineering is a significant part of Reliability Responsibilities • Implement a Safety Program in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and ARP-476. • Perform Reliability Predictions in accordance with MIL-HDBK-217 and customer requirements. • Perform Design for Maintainability in accordance with MIL-HDBK-472 and customer requirements. • Design for Testability in accordance with MIL-STD-2165, 1622A and customer requirements. • Performs BIT Assessment and Test Strategy to determine detection capabilities at box and board level. • Create Functional Block Diagrams as basis for FMECA. • Generate/Perform Fault Tree Analysis. • Generate FMEA • Generate Reliability Predictions • Perform Physics of Failure Analysis. • Prepares test plans (i.e. BIT Demo, M-Demo, HALT, HASS, ESS, etc.) procedures and reports for demonstrations, and assists in monitoring test programs. • Perform safety engineering hazard analyses and generate safety reports. • Performs design reviews for safety compliance using safety design checklist. • Strong working knowledge of application programs including MS Windows, Word, Excel, and specialized Reliability programs such as FMECA and RELEX software. • Prepares implements and maintains the company parts control program as required. • Participates in the parts selection application standardization, and approval cycle (when required). • Contributes to the decision about obsolete parts and diminishing sources. • Participates in design reviews, with emphasis on parts and parts-technology application. • Monitors subcontractor’s parts control activity, when required. • Reviews Alerts and recommends corrective action. • Coordinates common part activities with other divisions.

Job Skills

• Must possess strong leadership and communication skills • 10+ years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university • Ability to prepare failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and formulates mathematical models to identify units posing excessive failure risks, and recommends proposed design changes. • Ability to perform functional and signal point-to-point FMECA tasks to the subassembly level. • Must be familiar with high-usage parts, including circuit design, applications, and supplier capabilities. • Ability to select from applicable MIL-SPEC, MIL-STANDARD Documents, such as MIL-STD-454, MIL-S-19500, MIL-STD-198, MIL-STD-199, MIL-STD-965, and MIL-STD-1556 is mandatory • Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
