Job Description

• Responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing plans in support of business unit’s strategic objectives.
• Execute on projects of varying complexity and scope and will be expected to perform multiple activities across projects. This position will team with management, operations, and design engineering on project issues and will develop resolution options.
• Work on cross-functional projects to achieve key factors of project success, which include project schedule, project cost, product cost, process quality, and transferability.
• Work in conjunction with the project team in determining technical objectives of assignments.
• Take the initiative to define, analyze, and lead implementation of processes and solutions that improve specific manufacturing processes.
• Continually seek out improvement opportunities and team with others to achieve the results.
• Under general direction, he/she will lead the industrialization of new products through the entire introduction process from concept to customer.
• Ensure that the manufacturing processes provide the highest quality product at the lowest cost.
• Ensure that customer delivery commitments are met.
• Function as key liaison between design engineering and operations for resolution of all manufacturing issues.
• Develop, implement and maintain methods, routings and processes for the manufacture of RA parts and assemblies.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements in the manufacturing processes. Interface with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products. Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations and designs for tooling & process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
• Research, develop and document new and improved manufacturing processes. Apply lean/6 sigma techniques when possible to improve output.
• Identify and implement manufacturing cost reductions and productivity improvements.
• Apply continuous improvement techniques to identify and implement lead-time reductions and quality improvements.
• Compile and document work instructions. Perform training for operators consistent with all applicable RA workmanship and safety standards.
• Design, implement and maintain tooling, as needed, for all manufacturing processes.
• Lay out new production lines including material flow patterns.
• Support the growth of the facility by leading seamless new product introduction and/or transfer of products from design engineering to operations, and from one facility to another, as required.
• Ensure seamless implementation of engineering changes.
• Design, implement and maintain product identification, packaging and test capabilities.
• Assist with the procurement of manufacturing equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Interface with and support the resolution of issues at suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Lead the material review board team.
• Identify and pursue product design changes to improve manufacturability.

Job Skills

• Must be able to lead, and work well in a team environment and interface with other functional groups such as engineering, operations, quality, purchasing, sales, and outside suppliers.
• Fluent in lean processes and principles. Demonstrated and measureable success(es) applying lean and DFSS techniques and tools to manufacturing in an electro-mechanical environment
• A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related technical field with knowledge in the application of basic engineering principles, theories, and techniques. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of related work experience
• Demonstrated change management in a cross functional and cross cultural environment
• Good communication skills and the ability to provide clear status updates to business leadership.
• Essential computer skills include familiarity and fluency in MS Office
• Must be able to teach others
• Ability to travel to domestic, and on infrequent occasions, international suppliers and partners
• Familiarity with mechanical machining tolerances and methods
• Desired skills: Pro engineer experience a plus; Experience programming and/or maintaining automatic test equipment; Experience planning and executing Kaizen events with verifiable results; Knowledge of statistical methods; Master of Science in Engineering; Familiar with Servo motors and drives; Familiarity with RA Logix
