Job Description

• Manage 15-20 Production Planners in the execution of their duties as well as leading work planning process and sequencing, including ensuring adequate staffing and resources.
• Achieve production planning operational objectives by contributing Production Planning information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepares and executes short and long term plans of action; measures and optimizes production productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolves problems; completes audits; identifies trends; determines system improvements; implements change.
• Provide management control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing production data and trends. Prepares weekly reports summarizing Planning operations and events.
• Meet Production Planning financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing and maintaining an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
• Ensure that available production capacity is being utilized at optimum levels. Indentifies and dispositions capacity constraints via interaction with production management.
• Manages production priorities by reviewing production output and new requirements. Interfaces with Sales / Order Processing group to resolve customer issues relating to delivery.
• Ensures that material requisitioning practices are adhering to company and departmental guidelines. Monthly review of inventories (Parts/WIP/Finished Goods) with Planning staff to ensure full engagement.

Job Skills

• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the process, practices and systems used in MRP and assist Planning staff with the resolution of ERP/MRP issues.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in business) or equivalent, APICS certification a plus.
• 10 years experience in MRP/ERP systems (Visual Manufacturing preferred), production control activities, production and inventory management. Organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skills are a must. Familiar with DOD, FARS/DFAR’s, and Government account not essential but preferred.
• Must be a problem solver, excellent multitasking abilities, proficient with data input, and have strong math skills. Able to manipulate database data in spreadsheets using advanced Excel concepts.
